Describe your project:

Encounters Management (Access 2002) Created an application to a) import raw text data on hundreds of thousands of medical claims records, b) scrub that data and c) export it to business partners using nationally defined electronic data interchange (EDI) medical formats.

Sales & Marketing (Access 2002) Developed a multi-user system to store, track, and report marketing efforts towards potential customers. System enables staff to electronically monitor their progress and offers management the ability to track individual and group performance.

Grievances and Appeals (Access 2002) A system designed to record and track patient complaints. Complaints must be responded to within a state-mandated period of time. The system allowed the department to accurately maintain their inventory of outstanding complaints and meet regulatory requirements. This system was created in Access 2002 and included periodic data refreshes from large text files which provided lookup functionality.

Eligibility Converter (Access 2002) An Access dashboard employing significant VBA code designed to import EDI text feeds from several partners, compare those to existing data within a SQL data warehouse, determine changes, and export an update command file to the company's primary business system (EZCap).

EDI Claims Converter (Visual Basic 5.0, Access 2002 and Microsoft SQL Server) HIPAA mandated that claims data exchanged between business partners comply with a nationally recognized format. The company's primary business system could not effectively read those files at the time of implementation. This Visual Basic/SQL tool bridged the gap by reading the incoming data files, validating membership, creating an import file for valid claims and loading invalid claims into a separate workflow repository.

Query Wizard (Access 2000 and 2002) Developed an application which allows users to query a data warehouse using an interview/wizard process in order to extract information while completely shielding the user from the intricacies of SQL. This tool freed the IT staff from creating ad hoc reports for the user community, saving countless hours.

Episode Tracking System (Access 2000, Visual Basic 5.0 and Microsoft SQL Server) Created an application to manage the workflow of data and documents through a research and review process. Automated the data entry, research, and reconciliation process for pended claims, thus reducing effort, errors, and eliminating misplaced paperwork.

Grievances and Appeals (Access 2000, Visual Basic 5.0 and Microsoft SQL Server) An application with a Visual Basic front-end for data entry and maintenance, links to an SQL data warehouse for lookup functionality, and an Access tool to manage reporting. the system was designe to track the timeliness of responses to patient complaints. The SQL lookups facilitated data entry, virtually eliminating entry errors and significantly speeding up entry time. The reports provided oversight to ensure all regulatory requirements were met in a timely fashion.

Data Conversion Systems (Access 2002, Microsoft SQL Server) ManagedCare.com provides standardized monthly utilization reporting to dozens of healthcare clients across the country. They needed help developing tools to convert data from their client's claims systems to their internal database format. I developed VBA code and SQL stored procedures to import, edit and translate the client's data feeds to ManagedCare.com's database structure.
